Nevada men’s golf, ranked 45 in Division 1, has their second top five win in a row. The men finished second place in the Desert Intercollegiate on March 2 through 4.

Six athletes competed on the 7305 yard, par 72 course in Palm Desert, Calif. A total of 20 schools took part in the tournament.

In the first round, Quim Vidal Mora was the only Nevada golfer under par. He was under par by two, but AJ Lintunen and Trey Davis were close and went even. Peyton Callens was over by one, Tom Patterson by two and Connor Motherway by seven. They had a total of 287 for round one.

Nevada tied with fourth.

The second round was the best for Nevada with a total of 280. Vidal Mora hit four under par and Lintunen hit five under. Callens improved and hit even. Davis was one over par this round. Patterson and Motherway went over par again by three and four. The first nine holes for Davis, Patterson and Motherway were a breeze as they all were even with par. It was the last nine where all three struggled and ended up going over.

The men gained the lead and took first place.

Round three was the men’s highest scoring round at 290. None were under par and only Callens and Lintunen went even. Vidal Mora and Davis were only over by one. Patterson went over four and Motherway went over by five strokes.

After all three rounds, Nevada bumped down to second place overall.

The men will play again on March 7 and 8 in the Lamkin San Diego Classic.
