Another top five finish for Nevada men’s golf

A second weekend was spent in the California for Nevada men’s golf as they faced 15 teams in the Lamkin San Diego Classic. The men finished in fifth place on the San Diego Country Club, par 72, 7033 yard golf course.

Nevada started off strong in the first round with a total of 277 points. Everyone on the team but one hit under par. AJ Lintunen and Peyton Callens both hit four under par. Lintunen hit five birdies and only one bogey. Michael Sarro was two under par and Quim Vidal Mora was one under. Trey Davis went over par by three.

The second round for Nevada had the highest score at 290. Only Lintunen and Davis were under par by one. Vidal Mora and Callens hit +2 and Sarro hit +4. The team had a total of 18 bogeys and 12 birdies.

The men improved in the third round and hit a total of 284. Davis significanytly improved from round one and ended up -5 in the last 18 holes of the Classic. He had four birdies, one eagle and one bogey. Vidal Mora was the only other teammate to hit under par and he went -2. Sarro was close to par but went one over and Callens went two over. After being under par in the first two rounds, Lintunen had a rough round and hit +5.

Overall, Nevada ended up with 851 points which was 13 under par. Davis was the best player for Nevada, ending up tied for 18 out of all athletes of the 15 teams. Vidal Mora was close behind and tied for 28. Callens and Lintunen tied for 38 and Sarro tied for 51.

The team will be back in California for The Goodwin on March 24 to 26.
