Nevada takes another L to Boise State
Heading to Boise, Nevada men’s basketball was 6–10 in conference play. The men lost to Boise earlier in the season, 70–85, and lost to them on March 1, 67–73.
It took four minutes for Nevada to get a shot in the first half. Will Baker made the first five points with a jumper and a three pointer. Warren Washington made eight points and Kenan Blackshear and Grant Sherfield added a couple of their own points. Nevada took a lead with nine minutes left of the half by one point, 20–19.
Boise came back and got ahead by six points at the end of the half, 41–35. Five points were from free throws.
In the second half, Boise kept adding to their lead and got ahead by nine points. Desmond Cambridge Jr. and Baker worked hand-in-hand to diminish the lead to only three points after several good jumpers and a free throw. Nevada had a dry spell for five minutes and Boise gained 10 points in this time to take a lead of 13.
A dunk by Washington broke the scoreless time of Nevada and Sherfield added a layup. Blackshear had a solid run of his own for two minutes. It started with a fastbreak jumper and next was back-to-back three pointers and two free throws. His performance put Nevada to only be two points behind Boise at 60–62.
The teams traded shots and kept the score close during the last four minutes of the game. Washington and Sherfield both made two free throws although this was not enough to take a lead. Boise won 73–67.
The men only have one more game left in their season which is against San Diego State on March 5 at home.
